Are you looking to create an affiliate marketing website but don’t know where to start? This blog post is for you! In this post, I’ll share with you my top tips for creating a successful affiliate marketing website. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
Choose a domain name and web hosting

The first step in creating your affiliate marketing website is choosing a domain name and web hosting. When choosing a domain name, be sure to choose one that accurately represents your website’s content. Make sure to follow SEO best practices when selecting your domain name. Moz has a really good guide explaining domains and what to look for.
As for web hosting, I recommend using a reliable hosting provider like WPX. You want something fast, cheap, reliable and with good support. WPX is nearly the best of all worlds. No one domain provider reigns king so you will need to do a little shopping around. However, after much of my own shopping around and long hours of testing, I truly believe WPX is the best bang for your buck.
Install WordPress

The next step is installing WordPress. WordPress is a free and open source content management system (CMS) that allows you to create a website or blog from scratch or using a pre-made template. I recommend using WordPress because it’s easy to use and it has tons of features and plugins that allow you to customize your website. To install WordPress, simply follow your domain hosting guide for easy 1 click installation.
Why WordPress?
There are a few reasons why I recommend using WordPress for your affiliate marketing website. First, WordPress is free and open source. This means that you can use it for free and there are a ton of plugins and themes available that allow you to customize your website. Second, WordPress is easy to use. Even if you’ve never created a website before, you’ll be able to quickly and easily create a website using WordPress. Finally, WordPress is SEO friendly. This means that your website will rank higher in Google search results, which will help you attract more visitors. Many page builders out there look amazing and boast the latest features. They usually cost money which is not great when you are bootstrapping a new online business. WordPress is the foundation upon with a little extra effort you can create any design you want for free or damn close.
Choose a theme and plugins
Once you’ve installed WordPress, it’s time to choose a theme and plugins. When choosing a theme, be sure to select one that is mobile-friendly and that has an eCommerce option. As for plugins, I recommend installing the following plugins: Rankmath SEO, w3 Total Cache w/ imported settings, Classic Editor, Elementor free version for building homepage, Smush. These plugins will help you optimize your website for SEO and create a beautiful homepage and optimized blog posts for your affiliate marketing campaigns.
Themeforest themes

If you’re looking for a good WordPress theme for your affiliate marketing website, I recommend checking out Themeforest. Themeforest is a marketplace where you can find and purchase WordPress themes from independent designers. They have a wide selection of themes that are perfect for affiliate marketing websites, and most of their themes are mobile-friendly and come with an eCommerce option.
WordPress Classic Editor

If you’re not happy with the new WordPress Gutenberg editor, you can switch back to the old WordPress Classic Editor. To do this, simply install and activate the Classic Editor plugin. This plugin will restore the old WordPress editor and allow you to continue using it.
Rankmath SEO Plugin
If you’re looking for a good SEO plugin for WordPress, I recommend using Rankmath. Rankmath is a free and open source SEO plugin that helps you optimize your website for Google search results. It has a ton of features that allow you to improve your website’s SEO, including keyword optimization, competitor analysis, and automated reporting. Rankmath is easy to use, and it’s one of the best SEO plugins available for WordPress.
Create content for your website
The next step is creating content for your website. When creating content, be sure to write high-quality articles that are relevant to your niche. In addition, be sure to use engaging titles and descriptions, and include images and videos whenever possible. Also, be sure to use social media to promote your content, and consider using paid advertising to reach a larger audience.
What you need to know about On-page SEO

On-page SEO is the fine tuning of keyword placements, SEO titles, image alt texts, image size, internal and external links, etc. We have a massive blog piece underway covering this but for now, I’d recommend checking out Ahrefs On-page Guide. SEMrush had the more excellent image 😉
Keyword research
The first step in creating high-quality content is doing keyword research. This involves identifying keywords and phrases that are relevant to your niche and targeting them in your content. By targeting the right keywords, you’ll be able to attract more visitors to your website and increase your chances of ranking higher in Google search results.
There are a few different ways to do keyword research, but my recommended method is using the SEMrush. SEMrush is a paid tool with a free trial period. This is how you will get your first batch of content researched and entered into your content calendar. You can easily find 25 blog post ideas within this time frame which is plenty to get your site off the ground. Once you have your 25 articles you can then decide whether or not you will continue with the service. Batching your articles can save you money from long-running subscriptions. To use the tool, simply type in a keyword or phrase and it will show you a list of related keywords and phrases. It will also show you how many people are searching for each keyword, as
Join an affiliate program
You can’t make commissions if you are not a part of an affiliate program. Check out our blog posts on choosing affiliate programs in Canada and high ticket affiliate programs in Canada.
Add affiliate links to your content
The final step in creating a successful affiliate marketing website is adding affiliate links to your content. When adding affiliate links, be sure to use contextual links that are relevant to the content of your article. In addition, be sure to use tracking IDs to track your affiliate sales.
Drive traffic to your website
Organic traffic from Google is the best type of traffic you can get for your affiliate marketing website. However, getting traffic from Google can be difficult, especially if your website is new. The best way to get organic traffic from Google is by optimizing your website for SEO. This happens when Google deems you worthy of ranking on the first page for a search term. This means you usually have a deep catalogue of content in your niche and also have some backlinks from other webmasters within your niche. Mix those with a technical sound website and you are on your way to generating traffic.
